Fendi is a “Made in Italy” brand that has become famous throughout the world for having renewed the traditional image of fur, making it a fashionable item. The company was founded in 1925 in Rome, as a small shop selling bags and furs. In 1930, the founders Edoardo and Adele Fendi developed the business, but it was with their five daughters Paola, Anna, Franca, Carla and Alda that the company was brought to fame. In 1965, the collaboration with Karl Lagerfeld began, which lasted until his death in February 2019. The designer created and emphasized the double “F” motif (Fun = fun, Fur = fur); he played down fur and created innovative and functional bags and shoes. From 1987 to 1999, with the third generation, the “Fendissime” line was born, designed for a young audience. Over the years, production was also expanded to include glasses, watches, costumes and home furnishings.
Since October 1999, the maison has been part of the LVMH group, which since 2020 has entrusted the women’s creative direction to Kim Jones.
